Eco-Alpha Awarded Groundwater and Wastewater Treatment Testing Support Services Contract with City of West Sacramento George Kristoff Water Treatment Plant

Eco-Alpha is providing quarterly groundwater and wastewater monitoring and testing services for Waste Discharge Requirement compliance on behalf of the George Kristoff Water Treatment Plant.

SACRAMENTO, CA, Feb. 25, 2020 — Eco-Alpha has been selected by the City of West Sacramento, George Kristoff Water Treatment Plant (GKWTP) to provide groundwater and wastewater monitoring and reporting support services for compliance with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP) Water Discharge Requirements (WRD) Order.

California’s Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board has established upper and lower trigger and maximum levels for most common constituents (nitrogen, arsenic, lead, nickel, and trihalomethanes), and these are some of the most stringent values in the country. While the levels for constituents of concern in groundwater wells are relatively low, the CVRWQCB and the GKWTP constantly explore new technologies, processes, and strategies to ensure that water supplies continue to meet all state and federal water quality standards.

The WDR order requires quarterly monitoring and reporting, groundwater and wastewater sample collections, and visual inspection of the sludge drying ponds. Laura Vary, Eco-Alpha’s environmental technician, leads the data collection, field sampling, visual observations and oversees the collection of analytes for laboratory tests based on state and federal standard procedures.

“Eco-Alpha’s unique ability to shape the industry for Environmental Solutions is drawn from our multidisciplinary capabilities in water, wastewater, and civil engineering,” said Eco-Alpha’s CEO and Principal Scientist Dr. Melanie Okoro. “We are trusted experts in the industry, integrating both proven and scientific-based methodologies and technologies to collect, detect, and analyze constituents of concern in drinking water, groundwater, surface water, and wastewater.”

Our goal is to provide detailed quarterly and annual groundwater and wastewater monitoring services to the CVRWQCB. These services result in quarterly and annual reports that summarize water quality, GKWTP’s treatment practices, and provide recommendations for future monitoring practices.
