2024 year in review
Eco-Alpha has had quite the 2024! Join us in looking at a few highlights from the last 12 months to close out the year.
We celebrated Black History Month by honoring the brilliance of the Black trailblazers who revolutionized our industry. As a women and minority-owned business, we dedicate our mission to push the boundaries of engineering excellence and champion diversity and inclusion in our industry. This year, we did a spotlight on our VP of HR/Finance, Stephanie Harrison.
In an exciting discussion "Teambuilding: Cultivating an Optimal Mindset Panel" at the 13th California State University Maritime Academy's Women in Maritime Leadership Conference in April 2024, she spoke on equity focused leadership development.
We closed out the first quarter recognizing Scott Hefner, Zone Chief for Chicago Public Schools, for his outstanding commitment to service, leadership, and impact in the K-12 community.
Scott's highlighted accomplishments included the development of innovative engineering solutions; building and fostering a collaborative team environment; creating a supportive work environment. Scotts outstanding service served as an affirmation to our commitment to recognize those who lead the way and those who are a testament to our dedicated leaders.
The award was presented by Mark Yankowski.
In June 2024, we traveled to Philadelphia to talk with other industry leaders at BOMA.
Back in California, we partnered with CleanTech for a an event in September exploring cutting-edge clean energy innovations, tested out the latest solar products, and even took a peek at some of the coolest new electric vehicles.
Then in October, we traveled to Washington D.C. as part of the Prosper Delegation for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference with the Capital Black Chamber of Commerce. We met with legislators to advocate for policies which will uplift and empower black businesses.
Eco-Alpha CEO and Principal, Dr. Melanie Okoro, PhD, joined the California High-Speed Rail Authority team on the Capital and Finance panel at the Annual Small Business Diversity & Resources Fair at University of California, Merced in November.
And to close out the year with a bang, our CEO and Founder, Dr. Melanie Okoro, was installed for her second term as a Board of Trustees member for the Now Capital Black Chamber of Commerce this December.
We are grateful to celebrate this year of milestones, and we are excited to jump in to 2025!
